A student of Hope's Peak Academy Class 77-B, and a participant of the Killing School Trip featured in _Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair_. Her title is the Ultimate Swordswoman (超高校級の「剣道家」 lit. Super High School Level Kendoka).
Peko initially appears to be rather serious and intimidating, expressing little emotion. However, she isn't unsociable and doesn't mean to act cold. For a long time she didn't smile because she thought it was unnecessary, and she says she eventually forgot how to. Even though she doesn't believe it herself, she is a very kindhearted and selfless person who cares about her classmates, wishing nothing but good for them. She also loves animals, especially pandas, but most animals are scared of her and tend to run away.
~!As a newborn, Peko was abandoned by her own parents and taken in by the Kuzuryu Family, a known yakuza group. From childhood, she was raised alongside the family's eldest child and eventual heir, Fuyuhiko, and trained to be his personal hitman and bodyguard. She became extremely loyal to him, eventually coming to see herself as nothing more than an inhuman "tool" meant only to follow her young master's orders. While in reality, Fuyuhiko loves Peko as a person and doesn’t want her to think of herself that way, she interprets it as Fuyuhiko's hate of relying on his family’s power, and therefore hating her along with it. This further fuels her desire to be useful to him, and to try to make him happy even if she claims that as a tool she has no will of her own. Peko appeared to develop romantic feelings for Fuyuhiko, knowing that he had a kind heart despite the way he was raised.!~
~!Peko, along with the rest of class 77-B, were forced to watch Junko Enoshima's brainwashing video of her executing the class rep, Chiaki Nanami, which afterwards made them become part of Junko's Ultimate Despair group. The members of Ultimate Despair did all kinds of horrible things during the Tragedy, causing despair all over the world. Fuyuhiko and Peko entered the Japanese Diet and slaughtered everyone within. However, the fifteen students of class 77-B, now called the Remnants of Despair, were later found by Future Foundation; Makoto Naegi aimed to undo Junko's influence by putting them into the Neo World Program, a virtual world modeled after the real Jabberwock Island: a tropical paradise consisting of five bigger islands connected by a smaller, central island in the Pacific Ocean. The fifteen of them had their memories of their time at the school and of them being Ultimate Despair erased, and their virtual avatars were made to look like how they did before entering the school as well. The goal was for them to live peaceful, fun lives together as friends on the island, and then later have their lost memories replaced with the ones made within the program to save them from despair and restore hope. However, the program was taken over by AI Junko according to the Ultimate Despair's plan, and they were instead thrown into a killing game dubbed the "Killing School Trip" run by Monokuma.!~
~!Within the Neo World Program's Killing School Trip, Peko was the fourth to die, executed by Monokuma for killing Mahiru Koizumi. Peko did so in order to save Fuyuhiko who had sought to avenge his younger sister, as Monokuma's Twilight Syndrome Murder Case motivation game had revealed that Mahiru had been an accomplice in her murder. Fuyuhiko had been angered at Mahiru when he went to talk to her, but before he could do anything, Peko turned up and attacked Mahiru instead, killing her instantly by hitting her over the head with a metal bat.
At the Class Trial, Hajime singled out Peko as the murderer against Fuyuhiko's protests. Peko didn't try to defend herself, but instead suddenly "revealed" herself as the vigilante serial killer Sparkling Justice, which Sonia had previously mentioned. Peko put on the Sun Witch ♪ Esper Ito character mask that she had placed next to Mahiru's body and began ranting about justice in an over-the-top, extravagant performance that caused everyone to hastily vote her out as the culprit. However, Sonia belatedly provided evidence as to why Peko couldn't possibly be Sparkling Justice: the serial killer wasn't Japanese. Peko calmly admitted her lie, explaining her connection to Fuyuhiko and declaring that she had intentionally led everyone to vote for her, as she is just a tool following orders, so Fuyuhiko is the true culprit in her eyes; meaning that they had voted for the wrong person, so everyone except him would be killed. However, Fuyuhiko refused to call Peko a tool, instead saying that he wanted her to stay as a true human being. Though somewhat disappointed, Peko admitted that she expected such a response from Fuyuhiko, and she resigned herself to her fate. During her execution, Peko met Monokuma's endless hordes of robotic soldiers with little emotion, only to accidentally attack Fuyuhiko, who had gone there to try and save her, with her sword. With her master unconscious from shock and blood loss, Peko sacrificed herself to save him by shielding his body with her own to protect him as Monokuma's minions stabbed her to death.!~
~!When she died in the Neo World Program, Peko's real body went into a coma. After defeating AI Junko and escaping the simulation, the five survivors of the Killing School Trip stayed on Jabberwock Island with Peko and the rest of their comatose classmates to wait for them to wake up. Against all odds, Peko and the others eventually came out of their coma thanks to Hajime/Izuru's incredible talents.!~
