Fuyuhiko is initially incredibly stand-offish and rude to the other students. When he does interact with them, his attitude is combative and irritable. He was born as the heir of Kuzuryu Clan, but he thinks that his younger sister, Natsumi, deserves the title instead. Fuyuhiko states that he wants to be strong on his own and not rely on his family's power to get ahead. His goal is to be strong enough to lead his family, rather than to be strong _because_ he leads his family. He takes duty very seriously, and if there's someone who he can trust, he will open his heart and cooperate with them. Despite being a yakuza, Fuyuhiko has a somewhat pure heart and is very strict to the rules, taking honor and moral codes seriously. He is also particularly sensitive about his "baby face" looks.
~!Fuyuhiko, along with the rest of class 77-B, were forced to watch Junko Enoshima's brainwashing video of her executing the class rep, Chiaki Nanami, which afterwards made them become part of Junko's Ultimate Despair group. The members of Ultimate Despair did all kinds of horrible things during the Tragedy, causing despair all over the world. Fuyuhiko and Peko entered the Japanese Diet and slaughtered everyone within. Later, after Junko was executed, Fuyuhiko also took Junko's right eye and attached it to his own eye socket. The fifteen students of class 77-B, now called the Remnants of Despair, were later found by Future Foundation; Makoto Naegi aimed to undo Junko's influence by putting them into the Neo World Program, a virtual world modeled after the real Jabberwock Island: a tropical paradise consisting of five bigger islands connected by a smaller, central island in the Pacific Ocean. The fifteen of them had their memories of their time at the school and of them being Ultimate Despair erased, and their virtual avatars were made to look like how they did before entering the school as well. The goal was for them to live peaceful, fun lives together as friends on the island, and then later have their lost memories replaced with the ones made within the program to save them from despair and restore hope. However, the program was taken over by AI Junko according to the Ultimate Despair's plan, and they were instead thrown into a killing game dubbed the "Killing School Trip" run by Monokuma.!~
~!Within the Neo World Program's Killing School Trip, Fuyuhiko discovered through Monokuma's Twilight Syndrome Murder Case game motive that his younger sister was murdered during the school life that they lost their memories of, and Mahiru Koizumi was an accomplice in the murder. Driven by revenge, Fuyuhiko enlisted Peko, his hitwoman who had been by his side their whole lives, to help him isolate and kill Mahiru. He planned to do it with a metal baseball bat as an ironic nod to how his sister was killed. At the same time, he was wrestling with growing misgivings about his scheme, whether from fear of failure or a simple crisis of conscience. However, when Fuyuhiko went for the bat, Peko grabbed it first and killed Mahiru instantly with a blow to the head.
During the Class Trial, Fuyuhiko was very defensive towards Peko, doing whatever he could to pull suspicion away from her. Ultimately, though, the group voted Peko as the culprit, much to Fuyuhiko's distress. After the vote, Peko unveiled her true plan: sacrificing herself to allow Fuyuhiko to escape. She claimed that she is just a tool following orders, so Fuyuhiko is the true culprit, meaning that they had voted for the wrong person and everyone except him would be killed. However, Fuyuhiko refused to call Peko a tool, eliminating that argument. As Monokuma initiated the punishment, Fuyuhiko tearfully begged Peko not to leave him, declaring that he only ever wanted her as a person, not as a tool. He then infiltrated her execution in an attempt to save her, however Peko ended up accidentally slashing him with her sword instead. He barely survived thanks to Monokuma's care, and eventually made a full recovery except for his right eye which couldn't be saved. The morning after he was discharged from the hospital, he also sliced his stomach open in front of everyone as an apology, as he blamed himself for Mahiru's death. He was forced to return to the hospital but eventually fully recovered once again. Peko's death changed Fuyuhiko; he became more sociable and began avoiding bad-mouthing the others. He even became one of the group's most loyal and steadfast members, albeit still short-tempered and impulsive. He began trying to help others and is shown to openly care about them. Peko's sacrifice is obviously a sensitive subject for him.!~
~!Fuyuhiko is one of five survivors of the Killing School Trip. After defeating AI Junko and escaping the simulation, the five of them opt to stay on Jabberwock Island in hopes that they can do something to help their comatose friends, as everyone who died within the Neo World Program went into a coma in real life. Against all odds, they eventually all did wake up thanks to Hajime/Izuru's incredible talents.!~
